NEWPORT — A Pend Oreille County man was found deceased Saturday, April 19 — four days after he was reported as possibly missing from his home in northern part of the county.

Randy Mesec, 69, was last seen April 8 at his home on Greenwood Road near the Idaho state line. He was reported as possibly missing a week later April 15, according to Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office officials.

After a deputy responded, a Pend Oreille County Search and Rescue was contacted to conduct a search of the area. After a four-day search investigation, Mesac was found deceased Saturday in a forested area adjoining the residence by °ÄÃŲ©²Ê¹ÙÍø Search and Rescue. 

The Medical Examiner from Spokane County was called and will oversee an investigation to determine the cause of death, sheriff's officials said.

Units who assisted in the remote search included Pend Oreille Search and Rescue, °ÄÃŲ©²Ê¹ÙÍø Search and Rescue, °ÄÃŲ©²Ê¹ÙÍø Dive Team, °ÄÃŲ©²Ê¹ÙÍø K-9 Search Team, Spokane Search and Rescue K-9 Team, Stevens County Search and Rescue, Kalispel Tribe, and °ÄÃŲ©²Ê¹ÙÍø Sheriff’s Office drone team.
